Plant Sterols
Plant sterols are substances structurally similar to cholesterol, which are only naturally present in products of plant origin.
Since they are structurally similar to cholesterol, plant sterols bind to cholesterol transporters and are absorbed in place of cholesterol. Cholesterol that is not absorbed is eliminated via the intestine.
Regular consumption is associated with a reduction in total cholesterol and LDL levels. Since high cholesterol is a risk factor for cardiovascular health, plant sterols can help to counteract this situation.

Monacolina K
Monacolin K is a secondary compound that results from the fermentation process of red rice and that contributes to maintaining normal blood cholesterol levels. Several studies in humans, who were given products containing red yeast rice, containing significant amounts of Monacolin K, have shown that there is a direct relationship between its intake and the reduction of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels.
